Personnel

Janet G. Lazar (Principal) has practiced trusts and estates law for over 30 years. She has worked for several firms, large and small, in New York and New Jersey. She also served as principal law clerk to Judge Renee R. Roth of the New York County Surrogate's Court. Ms. Lazar is a member of several bar associations. She received her JD degree from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1979. She then studied taxation at the graduate level at New York University School of Law. She received training in client counseling at ACAP in Livingston, New Jersey. Her undergraduate degree is from Princeton University, where she majored in English literature and minored in music. She is married to a computer database designer. She has sung the national anthem at Shea Stadium with her a cappella group, Who's on First?


Karen L. Kushkin (Associate) is admitted to practice law in New York and Michigan. In 2008, she earned her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, where she served as the editor of the Tax Law Review. She received her J.D. degree in 2006 from Northwestern University School of Law. She graduated from the University of Michigan Business School in 2002 with a B.B.A. in finance. Karen remains a Michigan Wolverine fan. (Go Blue!) She spends her spare time with her Australian labradoodle, Foster, who is a certified therapy dog.


James L. Allan (Legal Assistant) graduated from Cornell University in 1981 with a degree in English literature. He has been a banker, a sales auditor, and a customer service representative. For six years he was a systems analyst for a large law firm. He is an avid reader and unrepentant cinemaphile.


Terry Taylor-Fleming (Legal Assistant) is a graduate of Dover Business College. She worked in the insurance industry for ten years and was the managing partner of a decorating business for fifteen years. She is a Yankees fan, but we forgive her.
